A couple of weeks ago, while I was brainstorming ideas for content, I stumbled upon these “X things before my Xth before” lists. People usually make these in advance and try to complete the list before their next birthday. But mine was coming up real quick, and I didn’t have time to do 24 new things in two short weeks. So instead I chose to reflect on my 23rd year.

Because it’s my birthday today: in no particular order, here are 24 things I did before I turned 24:

1. Lived in Australia for six months

2. Surfed (miserably, but that’s another story) in Bondi Beach

3. Went to my first Drag Queen show, and loved it.

4. Completed my Masters’ thesis on Blockchain and Sustainable Fashion

5. Did my first six months internship

6. Got my first “real” job, the one that really fits into my career plan

7. Became a freelance content and social media marketer, specialised in sustainable fashion!

8. Launched my own website and blog to share my journey to becoming more ethical and sustainable

9. Saw “Rigoletto” at Sydney’s Opera House

10. Participated in my first Fashion Revolution event

11. Started meditating daily

12. Quit coffee

13. Became vegetarian

14. Started donating to charities regularly

15. Saw a Shakespeare play

16. Had wine on a plane for the first time, I slept like a baby

17. Started grocery shopping in bulk

18. Committed to doing my best to be as low-waste and plastic-free as possible

19. Did a 35km walk

20. Saw France win the World Cup at 4 am in Sydney

21. Went to a music festival

22. Went Whale Watching

23. Cut my hair the shortest it’s ever been since I was six

24. Started saving for retirement

There you have it! My 23rd year has been amazing, and I’m looking forward to what the 24th will bring me. I’ll be taking some time in the coming weeks to set up the 25 things I want to do before I reach 25 next year.

24, bring it on!
